On the topic of disappearing archives - in around 2018 when I was still at BR the entire raw footage folder we had on the network was deleted by someone (still no clue who) trying to clear up space. Insane amount of unreleased and behind the scenes stuff with artists that had never seen the light of day just vanished in an instant - including stuff like an interview and live performance from Charanjit Singh shortly before he died (wasn't released just not to seem like it was capitalizing on his passing) or footage from behind the scenes in clubs which no longer exist like Stattbad or Plastic People.
I believe the mistake came from someone a miscommunication where someone had asked the film team if they needed their raw footage anymore (which was all on hard drives anyway) only to permanently delete a folder which contained the entire history of raw footage from all the BR shows since the beginning. Making it even worse is the cloud storage that had recently been purchased to back it up was so stupidly slow it was nowhere near done (Glacier style storage that takes ages to store and retrieve but good for gigantic amounts of data that you're in no rush to access) - and was in the process of being cancelled either way.
Absolutely painful knowing that what remains is just scattered across a bunch of different, barely functioning hard drives often in the hands of random ex-employees or vanished along with the google drives connected to their defunct email accounts. Still something that bothers me to this day tbh.
