Just listened to it, was really interesting to hear her background as an aspiring politician it definitely seemed to explain a lot of her approach to it all especially that lacklustre statement appeasing Hackney Council. I wonder what your opinions are on this - but from listening to Ed talking about it all and having read into the specific things she highlights in her own reports (specifically the very useful night time safety recommendations incl. better lighting etc.) it definitely feels like, in hindsight, a lot of the confusion could have been avoided by having her job split into two complimentary positions using that same amount of money: a single person looking to covering nighttime safety and another directly dealing with / advocating for venues? It just feels like having one person be put in charge of such a wide range of things means nobody is going to really be happy, and obviously if venues are closing down in a recession then the safety side of things would become moot anyway so they definitely need simultaneous focus. Also being elected via a whole nightlife council like in Amsterdam just seems like a no brainer? Just some relatively uninformed thoughts though, I'm sure there's lots of reasons for these things that I'm unaware of.
