Taganistas, mobilise: we’re going live again.
Next Wednesday (June 25th), we’ll host Jeff Weiss for a live episode of No Tags at Young Space in East London. Previous guest, founder of the peerless Passion of the Weiss blog and the writer behind some of the most essential prose (not to mention most savage takedowns) of our generation, we’ll be talking to Jeff about his new book, Waiting for Britney Spears.
Billed as ‘a frenetic account of Britney Spears’s historic rise and equally tragic fall,’ Jeff’s book is a half-fictional account of his secret past as a tabloid muckraker, tracking the young star's every move for an LA gossip rag. The result is a lurid portrait of American pop culture in the mid-00s: ‘A country at war, its shiny veneer beginning to crack. Von Dutch and The Simple Life dominate.’
If you’ve listened to our previous episode with Jeff, you should know what to expect: breathless righteousness delivered with a zinger-per-minute hit rate. He also likes tangents almost as much as us, so although the book will be a focal point of our chat, we’ll doubtless go all over the shop.
Due to limited capacity, attending this event is a little different to our previous ones:
To RSVP, email your full name to waitingforbritneyspears@gmail.com with the email title ‘No Tags live’.
If you’ve made the cut, you’ll receive an email on Tuesday June 24th confirming your attendance and sharing the address. We’ll prioritise people who have RSVP-ed earliest.
Make sure to arrive at 7PM sharp. We’re on a strict time limit at the venue and can’t guarantee latecomers will get in.
There will not be a bar at the event, so please bring your own drinks.
Hopefully see you there!
